Sacramental Life

COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has rather changed the way we do things in church. However we have been able to return to the celebration of the sacraments, albeit with certain restrictions, limitations, and precautions in place.  Please note that these restrictions are subject to change according to Government rules.

Baptism

Baptism welcomes people into the church.  For infants it involves a short preparation course run by the parish.

Baptisms  during this time of pandemic will normally held as a family celebration on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. There can be no more than 6 people attending, including any children but not including the priest.

For more details please contact Fr. Tony.

Children in the Parish who are beginning Year 3 (or above) at Primary school are eligible to join the Programme to prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist.

The 2020 First Holy Communions will take place at Sunday Masses during October.

Confirmation

For young people in year 10 or above. The Confirmations for  2020 will take place in the parish on Thursday 12th November at the 7:30pm Mass.

Following registration candidates are expected to participate in some way in a Sunday Mass (which, of course, includes the Saturday evening Mass) each weekend beyond simply being there (e.g. serving, welcoming, being part of the music group, helping with tea and coffee).

Holy Orders

Every Christian is called, by God, to give some definite service to the Body of Christ, the Church, and to the world, for the sake of the Kingdom.  Therefore all Christians have a vocation.  Not all Christians are called to serve the people of God as a priest or a deacon, but some are.  The Church is in desperate need of men to offer themselves to enable Christ’s flock to be nourished by the sacraments and by the proclamation of the Gospel.

To want to be a priest or a deacon is to want to serve; to glorify God through prayer and a life dedicated to being good news as well as talking about it.

Contact Father Tony if you feel you are being called by God.
